Quantity Surveyor – Waste Water Infra & Non-Infra

Salary Range – £40 to 50k depending upon experience or £350 p/d part time

Following an exciting start to AMP7, PWS is currently seeking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join our team, focusing on Wastewater. The role is to be based in Alton in Hampshire with the with flexibility of home working.

We are looking to appoint a Wastewater biased QS with a variety of experiences. Some examples include:

· Wastewater treatment technologies and principles

· Development and implementation of new and emerging technologies and techniques

· Ability to Project Manage commercial projects

· Estimating, including setting budgets

· Cost Value Engineering

· Produce Cost and Value Reconciliation and cost variances

· Input into the Project P&L

Basic Role Requirements

· Educated to degree level with a QS or Engineering qualification

· Computer-literate and able to work effectively work with the basic Microsoft suite of programmes as a minimum

· Extensive experience within the water and/or wastewater engineering sector

· Ability to provide a customer-focussed service with a clear understanding of the water sector regulatory framework and strategic business planning

· Understanding of water and wastewater treatment technologies; an interest in developing and/or exploiting new and emerging technologies and techniques

· Ability to complete assignments on time, within budget and to a high technical standard

· A well-developed understanding of the design process

· Proven ability to manage and mentor teams and/or individuals and/or projects, potentially split across disciplines, locations and stakeholders

· A well-developed external profile and reputation; a desire and willingness to raise the profile of oneself and the Company

· Willingness to contribute to and develop our technical knowledge networks

· Minimum of 3 years QS wastewater biased experience

· Experience of NEC A/B/C/D&F & ICheme minor works contracts would be beneficial

Responsibilities (will vary depending on project and client)

Pre-Contract (Design Stage)

· Receive project Brief, visit site with Client and Design Team

· Review preliminary designs, meet with Design Team to ensure all requirements are met

· Prepare Preliminary Estimates for the works

· Undertake cost analysis to advise of impact on preliminary estimates as design develops

· Prepare Budget Review when final designs are complete, finalise firm final budget of the works on approval of final designs

· Attend meetings as required with Client and Design Team in order to monitor detail designs against Final Budget

· Prepare in consultation with the Design Team, the specifications for construction materials and workmanship

· Liaise with Services Design Engineer and produce documents for Civil, M & E Services Installation in the Bills of Quantities for construction works

· Liaise with Client and prepare Contracts for the works

· Prepare Bills of Quantities including Contract, Preliminary Construction Works and Services Installation, using a standard method of measurement for building works

· Prepare priced Bills of Quantities for the Client

· Liaise with Client and Design Team on the issue and addressing the queries of the Tenders including the issues of Bulletins as necessary

· Evaluate Tender once returned and prepare a reconciliation of the lowest acceptable tender with the approved Budget. Assist other members of the Design Team in identifying and evaluating possible savings, prepare bills of reduction and negotiate a revised Tender if required

· Prepare Tender Evaluation Report including recommending a suitable tender for the award of the Contract

· Prepare Contract Document for execution of the Contract

Post Contract Stage (Delivery Stage)

· Attend site meeting for the duration of the execution stage (construction)

· Perform monthly valuation of works completed inclusive of on-site/off-site inspections

· Prepare cost reports in consultation with the Design Team (Cost Reporting). • Evaluation of cost relation to variation orders Value Engineering

· Evaluation of Contractual Claims and Extension of Time Claims

· Preparation of Final Account in Consultation with the Design Team

· Final Cost Report to the Client (close-out)
